I hate the word ‘black’ when it pertains to people. The hue or tone of our skin is not ‘black’ and for the life of me, I could never understand the term, even as an elementary student. I never wanted to celebrate Black History Month becaause who tf is black?? And why is the history all hidden the other 11 months of the year?? None of the shit ever made sense…
Being born in 80’, I was present and coherent when we somehow ‘became’ African American at the behest of the late but not so great Jesse Jackson…
Nevertheless, I learned about a term called the Black Nobility from Europe.. The terms were not synonymous by society’s terms in my eyes so there had to be something I was missing….
Boaaaaaaa, was I right…
